Blue line starts between weeks 11 and 12 which is approximately March 17th, 2020.
This chart shows observed deaths by week of each year. The most recent data will be low as various states take up to 6 weeks to report.
Ignore that sharp drop at the end of this year's data, it will fill in as the states report more data.
As an example: as of August 15th, week 30, ending on July 25th, had 62,295 deaths. In the data from August 29th, that same week shows 63,814 as the states continue reporting information.
Look at the trend 3 to 5 weeks before this week or use the controls to load up different data reporting dates to see how a past week keeps increasing.
